Maestro Fresh Wes pays tribute to Toronto Raptors with new single

NBA Playoff fever has hit the 6ix harder than it ever has before.  This year, our Toronto Raptors already made history by making it to their first ever NBA conference final series, with game 5 taking place TONIGHT.  And one legendary Toronto rapper has created the rally cry for Raptors fans everywhere with a new song.  Maestro Fresh Wes is back with “Jurassic Park”.

Maestro Fresh Wes (Wes Williams) is a multi-award winning recording artist, and his iconic single“Let Your Backbone Slide” earned him the honor of being the first Canadian Hip Hop artist to have a single hit Gold status on the charts. His iconic 1989 album Symphony In Effect was the first to receive a JUNO Award for Best Rap Recording of the Year, as well as the first Canadian Hip Hop album to go Platinum. A Toronto artist through and through, I’m hard-pressed to think of someone better to pay tribute to this history-making Toronto team.

“Jurassic Park” was produced by Rich Kidd, who also appears on the track.  The song originally appeared on Maestro’s 2017 LP Coach Fresh, and is now receiving a well-deserved resurgence as this new Raptors anthem.  The video, shot by Lee Solo and edited by FLX VSN, is a celebration of the Toronto, the Raptors and their fans who gather outside the stadium for games in what is now known as Jurassic Park.

Tonight could be the night the Toronto Raptors make history by winning their first ever NBA Championship, and we’ll be cheering for them! Where will you be watching the game?
