Franz Ferdinand formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2002. It didn’t take the band long to have their first hit. The post-punk revivalists hit #3 on the UK charts with Take Me Out, the second single of their sophomore self-titled album. The song and band soared, winning a number of awards in 2004 including the Mercury Prize, an Ivor Novello Award, an Irish Meteor and an NME Philip Hall Radar Award. While the band hasn’t yet achieved the same level of success following these accolades, their subsequent album still earned Grammy noms. The band has continued releasing albums and touring internationally. In 2016, prior to the recording of their latest album, Always Ascending, founding member, guitarist Nick McCarthy left Franz Ferdinand to focus on family and new endeavours. Now as a five piece, they embarked on a world tour directly following the release date of the new album. They dropped in to REBEL in Toronto on April 8th.
