Join us at Schmoozefest, the fundraiser for the Unison Benevolent Fund

It’s that time of year; your calendar becomes inundated with holiday events and celebrations are found all around.  If you’re looking for a way to celebrate the season while also giving back to a community in need, look no further than Schmoozefest in support of the Unison Benevolent Fund.

If you haven’t heard of Unison, it’s about time you learn what this amazing organization is all about.  Our Canadian music industry doesn’t provide the most stable, or gainful of employment except to a privileged few.  Considering that income and employment are so precarious, it comes as no surprise that access to healthcare (mental and physical) and support during health crises is just as precarious, and at times frankly non existent. And that’s where Unison comes in.  Unison Benevolent Fund is a non-profit, registered charity that provides counseling and emergency relief services to the Canadian music community. The fund is an assistance program – created and administered for the music community, by the music community – designed to provide discreet relief to music industry professionals in times of crisis. Support through the fund comes in 2 forms: Financial Assistance, and Counseling and Health Solutions.  Being a not for profit, Unison derives a large portion of its funding from donations, as well as the proceeds from this very fundraiser, which is why you and everyone you know should go!

Every year, Unison hosts their Holiday Schmoozefest – the music industry’s fundraising party of the season. For this year’s event, the folks at Unison are bringing Canadian music icon Brendan Canning from Broken Social Scene to show off his DJ skills.  Guests will also get a chance to have their photo taken with Paul Mason aka Fashion Santa, the most stylish holiday host around. There will also be door prizes and raffles throughout the night so the giving spirit will definitely be in the air!

Schmoozefest 2019 takes place on Monday, December 9, 2019 at a bigger and better venue, Toronto’s chic Liberty Grand. Tickets for the event are $30 and can be purchased here. Come join the ADDICTED Music Department in supporting and celebrating this amazing cause.  For more information about Unison, the amazing work they do, and Schmoozefest, check out their website and social media links below.
