About this time last year, my partner in crime Nadia and I visited Figures Toronto for the first time for dinner and drinks.
After our first visit, we were hooked. The idea, the atmosphere, the food, it all worked in perfect unison to make for a great night.
This time around hit the mark as well. From the moment you walk into the foyer with ceiling to floor wall lined with comic book imaging and a mini store with some pretty cool finds too greet you along with the host, you know your in for something special.
Once you push the activation button, a secret door opens up leading you into a world that was without a doubt created by a huge comic book fan, I’m sure hence the name, figures.
As you start into drinks you’ll see just as we did that the menu offers many twists on old classics, one of my favs being their twist on an Old-Fashioned.
From there as your eyes dance through their menu, you see some really great food twist’s on classic originals, one being the evil TV dinner turned truly delicious.
Our dinner included:
Black Truffle Risotto w/ Local Squash, Sage, Reggiano cheese.
Tartare made with Canadian Prime Beef Tenderloin. Quail Egg, VSOP.
Truffle Wagyu Burger w/ Maple Cured Bacon, Black Truffle Aioli on a homemade brioche with buttermilk onion rings.
TV Dinner – Buttermilk fried chicken, teleggio whipped Yukon gold potatoes, roasted garlic creamed corn, chipotle honey.
Candy Bar – Callebaut chocolate, salted caramel, feuilletine, passionfruit anglaise.
Crumble Apple and pear, pecans, aged cheddar ice cream.
From the creativity around this resto to the amount of detail put into each plate always just blows my mind, and really does make for quite a delightful dining experience, and that’s what it is, an experience, that we think, everyone should enjoy, twice, or more, if you’re lucky enough to have the chance!
