I must admit, my entire life has been filled with some truly exceptional women. It started right from the beginning wtih none other than my mother who, through my formative years, raised me and my two siblings, worked full time, and still managed to always be right by my side through it all. So when Wow Air asked me if I knew any truly inspiring women, I said, I sure do!!
Another lady who’s been right by my side for the past 15 years is my best friend, business partner and platonic soulmate Nadia Elkharadly.
Not only has she been with me through all the good times, but she’s also seen me through some very bad times too, including the drug addiction that lead me to name this magazine ADDICTED. Together, we started our mission to make the world a better place, one word at a time.
She has graciously allowed many friends to stay in her home when they needed a roof over their heads, some for months at a time; she fosters animals who need love and a safe place, and over here with me drives the conversations about how we can use ADDICTED to move for a positive change in the world.
We have worked together on countless charitable campaigns for the last 6 years and will continue our mission to do so as long as we do all of this.
She is kind, caring, strong, outspoken, funny, smart, honest, and truly one of the best souls I’ve met in this life; I honestly can’t say enough good things about his amazing woman.
So when it was announced that Wow Air would be celebrating the strong, wonderful amazing women of the world I had to do two things; nominate Nadia, and share this great news with all of you!
WOW air, Iceland’s only low-cost airline, is celebrating International Women’s Day by honoring some of the inspiring women in Canada.
Wow is encouraging Canadians to share stories of important women in their lives on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #wowwoman between now and March 8.* On International Women’s Day, WOW air will repost the most inspiring stories, and award each winner two tickets to a destination of her choice within the WOW air network.
Iceland, WOW air’s home country, consistently ranks first in the world for gender equality. It was the first country to have a female president, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, elected in 1980, and the world’s first openly lesbian head of government, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, elected prime minister in 2009. Its second female prime minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, has been in office since 2017.
The #wowwoman efforts will serve to recognize and celebrate the women who positively impact the lives of those around them. So this March share your story about the wonderful woman in your life, cause who knows, not only will you let her know she means the world to you, she may just win a trip halfway around the world.
Wow, now that’s what I like to call a win/win!
