It’s time for a Conversation – a new track by DJ Agile ft. JRDN

When I came across this song in my email I thought, “that’s an incredibly timely song title”.  This is a time truly characterized by conversations, which is why I’m sharing this brand new track from Juno award winner DJ Agile ft. JRDN aptly titled “Conversation”.

It’s been a heavy time lately, but one that’s hopeful, filled with passion, drive, and forward momentum.  Despite the tragedy that has gotten us to this point, the days of protests, the viral social media campaigns and the constant conversations about racial equality, justice and how black lives really do matter (seriously who still needs to be told?) have started to pave the way for real change.  The battle is far from over, which is why I want to re-emphasize the concept of conversations, with an assist from some fantastic Canadian artists.

Toronto’s DJ Agile teamed up with R&B singer and heartthrob JRDN for this upbeat, light hearted track that’s all about that sweet spot when you’re just getting to know someone.  It’s all about the chemistry and the vibe, and the anticipation of something you really, really want but can’t have just yet.  It’s a feeling that feels almost innocent considering how intense the times have been lately, and it’s a welcome break, if only for a few, smile and dance inducing moments.

So take that few minutes right now, with a great tune to take your mind off of these tough conversations, because sometimes it’s just about getting to know someone a little better, before you really get to know them.

Conversations with our families, our friends and the people in our lives; conversations are the tools that every day folks like you and me can continue to support the movement for true racial equality.  These conversations may be heavy, they may be uncomfortable, they may be confrontational.  They may not go how you hope, they may not go very well at all.  But every conversation is a step forward.  It’s words spoken out loud that need to be said, and words that are heard, even if the hearer may not be listening in the moment.  So keep having those conversations, and keep the flow of information going for yourself so you’re better equipped to have them.
