Inspired by the Nineties: Addicted to Doc Martens

The ’90s are back in a big way – though they never left for some of us (or maybe we never left them). The quintessential shoe of the era didn’t go anywhere, either, and remains as engrained in current pop culture as The Simpsons, grunge, pizza pockets and Gwen vs. Britney. You know exactly what we’re talking about: the legendary Dr Martens boots.

Affectionately and universally referred to as “Docs,” there is nary a doubt that we’re talkin’ the hippest work boot that ever did exist. Anyone who was old enough to grasp the concept of fashion, or even just the concept of wearing shoes or boots either acquired or attempted to acquire their very own pair of Docs in the 90s. Whether yours were the classic 8 hole boots with yellow stitching, the eye-catching Cherry docs, or, if you just had to be different, the 10-hole with rainbow stitching, you probably still miss those boots that you wore right into the ground. Well, grown up, former ’90s teens, you can now indulge in your Doc Marten addiction with a fantastic new collection from the iconic British bootmakers.

If the 90s mean electric colors and patterns for the fashionably brave, then the designers over at Dr. Martens haven’t skipped a beat. Audacious as ever, the spring collection is deliciously wearable, whether to Sunday brunch, the office or when you’re club or concert bound.

Addicted’s resident fashionistas take that declaration to task, integrating these statement pieces easily into our daily wardrobes, adding kicks to our individual styles and some serious pep in our steps. Did you know that Doc Marten also makes clothing now? We didn’t, but we loved the pieces we discovered! From fresh takes on quintessential ’90s plaid to cool grungy yet feminine detailing, Doc Marten have taken their fashion game to the next level.

Take a peek at what we came up with and crack into your own wardrobes and imaginations – share your Docs-inspired outfit creations with us: #AddictedToDocs on Twitter (@weraddicted) or Instagram (@weraddictedmag).
