How To Be More Productive With Your Leisure Time

Have you ever found yourself somehow frustrated that you’ve made little progress with, well, anything during your leisure hours? Free time can seem like a perfect space to reflect, completely ignore the intensity of your responsibilities, and relax on the sofa. Sitting in front of the television for hours consuming somewhat bad but enjoyable TV, using social media apps on your phone, eating well, all of this can be nice – but you may find it unfulfilling.

Despite honing the best productive measures at work, bringing that to your free time can be an even harder transition to make. But is there a problem here? After all, it might be that you just need time to unwind, and you’re not interested in curating twenty different hobbies like a superhero. That’s completely fine.

Yet if you find that you barely make progress in the books you wish to read despite having the time, or always find yourself becoming distracted and seeing the hours melt away, it could be that you require structuring your free time more appropriately.

Luckily, we have some advice to help you in that direction:

Commit To Certain Activities

It can be helpful to just commit to a particular activity, despite how pensive you may be at the moment. If you know that you’re going to launch that video game after dinner, you can do so without checking your phone for twenty minutes beforehand. It might be that instead of reading at home while managing your children, you decide to listen to your audiobooks on the way to and from work. Committing to your activities helps you enjoy them, and adequately focus as you wish to.

Follow Your Interests

If you’re struggling to follow something as you intended to prior – it might be because you’re simply not interested in it. Don’t feel forced to enjoy something just because it’s ‘in’ right now. Game of Thrones was one of the biggest television shows ever to grace our screens and ran for many amazing seasons, but then the final season disappointed almost everyone in how quickly it seemed to be rushed out. This goes to show that if you aren’t fully invested and interested, issues are harder to forgive, and you’ll be less likely to finish – or feel bitter when you do. Life’s too short for this kind of experience.

Make Things Easier

Make things easier for yourself. For instance, following Troypoint’s guide to VPNs for Kodi can help you reclaim a hub of entertainment and access to your content without having to fight a thousand different service subscriptions or devices. It might be that you use Goodreads or Letterbox’d to track your reading and film viewing habits, helping you come to a new recommendation without having to put things off for years into the future.

With this advice, you’ll feel more productive with your leisure time from top to bottom. This way, you can relax more deeply, even despite the obvious irony.
