While backpacking Africa in 2006, sisters’ Kristy and Amy Hawke discovered a makeshift school in a small Kenyan village known as Maweni. Moved by the struggle of the local people to create a safe space for kids to learn and grow, the twins started Hope 4 Help and became the Canadian “ambassadors” for more than 300 children, their teachers and an amazing school community. Today, with the support of Hope 4 Help, Baharini Primary School has nearly 1,200 students, 30 teachers, 20 classrooms, a daily food program and a sustainable greenhouse and chicken coop.
Hope 4 Help’s aim is to educate, inspire and create a solid foundation for the school to grow by providing the same opportunities to the children there that are so readily available to children here in Canada.
So, if you’re in the area, or plan to be, why not support a great cause, while taking in a day filled with music, food and fun.
