Historic Lacoste factory in France produces masks for frontline workers

Through the catastrophe that has been the COVID-19 crisis, it’s been heartwarming to see individuals and organizations rise to the many challenges, and do their parts to help their communities and the world as a whole.  The fashion industry specifically has seen many brands and business pivot, leveraging materials, production lines and design and fabrication expertise to produce masks, gowns and more.

One such company is legendary french athletic wear brand Lacoste.

For the past several weeks, hundreds of Lacoste employees across Europe have mobilized to create washable face masks. Almost one hundred employees in Troyes, France, the birthplace of Lacoste, have volunteered to work on the manufacturing of 145,000 fabric masks.  The Lacoste factory in Argentina has also diverted some production for masks as well.

As well, workers from Lacoste’s Turkish partner, EREN Holding, have volunteered to manufacture medical masks and gowns.  The masks were and will continue to be donated to local shopkeepers as well as French government workers to enable them to protect themselves as they go about their work and daily lives.

As every effort counts to in this pandemic, Lacoste will continue its efforts to produce masks for as long as the health situation calls for it.

Lacoste has always been a leader and innovator when it comes to fashion, so it’s no surprise that they continue to rise to the occasion in the midst of a crisis.
