Today I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate our amazing founder and Editor in Chief Mark Munroe. Thirty three years ago this gem of a human came into this world, and I couldn’t imagine my life without him.
Mark’s life has not been without its ups and downs all of which he’s not only overcome, but he has managed to turn every negative he’s experienced into a positive, and best of all, a resounding success. From being overweight to becoming a successful model, from battling addiction to founding an amazing publication that reminds us that it’s ok to love something so much, you can’t live without it; he’s the king of transformation and triumphing against the odds. And that’s just scratching the surface on the challenges that have made this guy into the amazing man he is today.
Today I am so proud to call him my partner in work, my partner in crime (only the fun kind) and most of all my partner in an amazing friendship that blurs the lines between friend and family. He’s been there for me through thick and thin, and has supported me in building up the dream I started years ago as a fledging fashion turned music freelancer. Now I can proudly say that our little internet baby (because where else can a girl and a gay make a baby without anyone getting stretchmarks or stitches) is getting bigger, stronger and more beautiful with each passing day. I am so proud of what we have built with Addicted, and how far Mark’s business savvy and creativity has taken it.
They say that two minds make a third, more powerful mind, and that’s exactly the case with Mark and me. Though we may bicker, though we may not always see eye to eye, we have an amazing mutual respect that has allowed us to accomplish things most people wouldn’t even attempt. After nearly a decade of friendship and now nearly 3 years of watching Addicted grow and nurturing it along the way, I am so proud of what we have done, and so happy with all we have accomplished. Most of all, I will treasure all the amazing memories of the adventures we have shared, and can’t wait for the ones that are still to come.
Happy birthday Marky, and thanks for everything! But most of all, thanks for being the best bestie a girl could ever ask for. I can’t wait to see where this crazy journey will take us.
