Anyone who knows me, or who follows me on social media knows that I love a good drink. As much as I love most liquor, I have always had a deep love of Rye (aka Canadian Whisky) and when you are talking about Rye, weather it be here in Canada or anywhere around the world, Canadian Club has always been the brand that holds that market, and for good reason.
When I was invited to go to Windsor to visit the brand centre, learn more about CC and meet the Amazing Tish Harcus (CC brand ambassador) I jumped at the chance.
Over the two days we learned about the history of CC and how Hiram Walker founded what would become Canadian Club in 1858, starting in Canada with a distillery that was established in Walkerville, Ontario because of the exceptional quality of the local grains there.
So what sets CC apart from the rest? Well time honoured traditions like; Canadian Club is the only Canadian whisky that is Pre-Barrel Blended before aging to allow the flavours to marry, resulting in an exceptionally smooth and mellow whisky. It is also Double distilled to remove fusel oils and create a light tasting whisky. It’s aged longer than the industry standard in once-used American white oak bourbon barrels to give the whisky its mellow flavour and each expression is made from a different ratio of corn, rye, rye malt and barley malt distillates.
Now most of you may be thinking: all whisky is the same! But you would be wrong, even CC’s line is distinctly different, and may I add as close to perfect as whiskey can be.
