Get great brows at Waxon Waxbar

Having my brows on fleek for life has always been a challenge as well as a necessity. Growing up, I had the dreaded archless monobrow that many Middle Eastern gals are cursed with. That is, until I discovered tweezers, threading and now, great brow waxing with WAXON Waxbar.

WAXON is a busy woman’s one stop, cost effective shop for all her grooming and pampering needs. It’s designed with that type of woman in mind because Waxon founder Lexi Miles was, and still is, a busy, professional woman. The former Management consultant told me she “travelled constantly and rarely had time for a wax appointment,” and also felt the sting of the exorbitant prices for what many women consider an essential service. “After far too many waxes behind a shower curtain at my local nail salon, I began to see a gap in the Canadian market – the need for a high-end, trendy spot with professional, experienced waxologists and competitive prices, but that also accepts walk-ins… enter WAXON Waxbar.” WAXON features a sleek and functional environment where women (and men, they haven’t forgotten about you!) can come in and be treated to high-end style and service that’s convenient, flexible and affordable. With 4 locations in the GTA, I decided to venture out of my Queen West bubble to try out their services for myself. So off to Queen East I went for a brow shaping and brow and lash tinting!

As mentioned above, great eyebrows are not just a goal, but a journey. Over the years, brows of all shapes, angles and sizes have risen and fallen in popularity, so after the agonizing process of growing my brows out for a month…ugh, I checked in with Lexi to find out what direction my brow journey should take me in. According to her, “after Fashion Week in Toronto, it was clear that bold brows are still stealing the show and are bigger than ever! The runways were full of every brow from unique, ‘unkept’ and au naturel, to intense arches and dark brow tints.” So with that advice in mind, my wax expert Courtney tinted my brows to a darker brown shade using a gentle, natural tinting formula, then proceeded to shape my brows using a coconut oil based hard wax, that required no cloth strips to remove. As part of my brow journey, Courtney left a small gap on my left brow that I was instructed to fill with powder to make my brows look even, and she recommended I return after letting my brows grow out a bit more, to achieve the thicker, natural look Lexi recommended. Upon my return I was treated to another wax, this time with traditional strip-requiring soft wax. My 2nd brow expert Mayela was a whiz with the wax, giving me the perfect, more thickly arched brows I’d been waiting for. As a special treat I tried out the  lash tint service as well, revealing longer, more lush looking lashes after just a few minutes (who knew my lashes were partially blonde!). This service would be would be wonderful before going on a beach vacation – you don’t need mascara!

In the end I’m so glad I went with the brow wax, it made such a big different! Miles did tell me that “a good brow shape and brow tint is like an instant face lift”, and she’s totally right. So thanks so much to WAXON Waxbar for my new brows and happier face. Check out my before and after!
