Drive your dream car with Turo: the 1981 DELOREAN DMC-12

If you’re a car lover like I am, chances are you’ve got at least one dream car that you’d love to drive someday.  Making those car dreams come true isn’t always easy, unless you’re friends with Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld, or can sweettalk your way into a test drive at a fancy dealership.  That is, until Turo came along.

Founded in the U.S. in 2010, and expanding to Canada in 2016, Turo is a peer to peer car rental platform. Instead of maintaining a fleet like traditional car rental companies, Turo’s fleet consists of its users’ vehicles.  I liken it to an Airbnb type experience, but with cars instead of condos.  With availability in over 2500 cities, and over 800 makes and models of cars on the site, no matter where you are and what kind of car you’re looking for, chances are you’ll find it on Turo.

I had a great experience using Turo back in May, when I was able to rent a car big enough to get me and my Handsome International Men team to a gig out of town in the simplest, easiest way possible.  Knowing how easy it was to find a car I needed, I thought I’d see what it would be like to look for a car that I wanted instead.  I’ve spent some time checking out the site to see what cool cars they have available to rent, and here’s just one gem I came across:  a real-life Delorean.

Back to the Future fans, this one’s for you.  From the listing: “the car features gull-wing doors and an innovative fiberglass body structure with a steel backbone chassis, along with external brushed stainless-steel body panels.”  And, NBD, was used as a time machine in one of the most iconic movie series of all time.  That’s what we love about Turo: instead of just wishing you could drive a car like, this, you actually can, while giving money to someone just like you, who’s trying to make their own car dreams come true.

Want to try out Turo for yourself, and maybe even rent your own version of the Delorean?  Use our referral link to get you started and check back for new dream car discoveries!
