Cheating Confessions: A Tale of Karmic Revenge

Revenge cheating.  It’s one of the many reasons why people choose to stray from their partners.  Whether it’s revenge because their partner strayed first, as a way of getting attention or making a point, or simply to at least feel like one is balancing the scales; revenge is a big motivator when it comes to romance gone wrong.

Today I’m sharing an anonymous tale of cheating as a form of revenge, but set up in such a way that it seems like the universe itself believed that it was necessary.  Some may call it karma.  I call it a great story.

Just after I found out I was pregnant with my second child, my husband and I took our firstborn to Florida for a vacation. Both of my sisters as well as my older sister’s friend tagged along. We were having a fantastic time. lots of beach and pool time. But one night everyone went out to the bar but I, being pregnant, stayed behind in our room with our two and a half year old.

Flash forward to morning, and my husband hadn’t made it home. I knew something was off. Sure enough, he’d hooked up with my sister’s friend.

Despite that, we stayed together.  We somehow got through the year, and that winter I headed back to the same place in Florida, this time with my older sister only.

While it was never my intention to seek revenge, after some beach fun, some drinks and some sweet talking, I ended up shagging a very handsome guy who spent his day meeting all of my needs.

My husband and I tried everything including therapy, but we broke up almost two years after he originally cheated. I never told him. I never felt guilty. And I’ve never cheated again.

And with that, karmic balance was achieved.
