The thawed out crusader dons his shield to save the day again…but this time, is it for or against S.H.I.E.L.D.? When the organization becomes compromised, it’s a guessing game as to who’s on what side and who’s trying to help you vs kill you.
In a super hero nutshell, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is a bad ass action flick. The adrenaline remains high from start to finish. This movie, like many, is one where you get what you expect…provided your expectations are realistic. Is this groundbreaking? No (unless you count the times superhuman strength literally broke through the ground). Is it your typical tongue-in-cheese action flick with cheesy one-liners, large action sequences, and good looking actors in skin-tight outfits. Really, what more do you want from a Marvel movie?
All American Chris Evans returns as Cap as does Scar Jo and cool as ever Samuel L. New faces included Robert Redford as Alexander Goodwin Pierce, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon, and Emily VanCamp as Kate/Agent 13. And new aspects include a fairly seamless use of IMAX 3D to amplify the action.
One of the best aspects of all these Marvel movies is how they’re ties together and you look forward to the post flick sneak peaks (almost as much as the movie itself…almost).
If you’ve had a long week and you want to sit in a theatre and escape, Captain America: The Winter Soldier could do the trick.
