Canadian Music Week 2017- Our Picks

Spring is finally in the air, and music lovers are now looking forward to festival season. And the first one of the year is always Canadian Music Week.

Canadian Music Week (CMW) has bounced around when it comes to date in past years, but where it’s remained consistent is with its killer  lineups, cool collaborations and an industry first focus. And after 35 years in the business, you know they know what they’re doing. It’s globally recognized as one of North America’s premiere entertainment events, with artists and industry representatives coming from all over the world to participate.

2017’s Canadian Music Week festival will see Toronto taken over by music for 6 nights(April 18th-23th), with hundreds of artists bringing their talents to more than 30 live musicvenues across our downtown. For those who can get out of bed before noon (thanks 4am last call!), the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel will host all convention activities such asthe Digital Media Summit on April 19th, as well as others presentations, panel discussions, networking events and more.

This year’s festival lineup features some music greats as well as some amazing home grown talents. Portland rockers The Dandy Warhols,Canadian indie darlings Yukon Blonde, Toronto producer Tasha the Amazon, Juno award winnerJess Moskaluke, country fan favourites James Barker Band and more join the previously announced line-up that includes Big Sean, Melissa Etheridge, and Wolf Parade. Some fantastic showcase collaborations are also in the works, with Toronto born barter community Bunz, powerhouse indie music label Dine Alone Records and Six Shooter Records and Toronto Music publication Exclaim! among the teams bringing great music to CMW.
