Buy bold basics from a brand that gives back – meet Kuwalla Tee

We know that athleisure wear is rapidly becoming all of our daily uniform.  So as you’re updating your wardrobe with the latest in leisure wear, consider Kuwalla Tee, a Canadian athleisure wear brand that gives back.

Founded by brothers Yaniv, Dan and Oren Abecassis in Montreal, Quebec, Kuwalla|Tee was inspired by their frustration at the lack of quality clothing basics in the retail marketplace.  Items were ill fitting, fabric quality was poor, and selections were limited.  Rather than resign themselves to the lack of selection, the Abecassis family launched their own line of premium clothing basics.  Kuwalla Tee began in May of 2012 with their premium 3-pack cotton tshirt, and over the past 8 years the brand has grown into a ready-to-wear clothing label, creating high quality, affordable and fashionable athleisure wear and clothing essentials.

Since its launch, Kuwalla Tee has remained faithful to its modest origins. The brand’s vision is intended to be inclusive and aware. Its clothing collections, which combine comfort and quality, perfect for a time like this, help wearers express themselves through their personal style, while staying comfortable and feeling their best.  Kuwalla Tee’s goal is to be a fashionable reflection of the values of its customers:  being active, expressive, creative, trendy and, above all, fair and equitable.

In keeping with their drive for social justice, Kuwalla Tee also gives back wherever they can, even in the most challenging of times.  As the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold and make news this spring, leading to lockdowns and the forced closures of retail stores, Kuwalla Tee shared 30% of its online sales through its kuwallatee.com website with retailers who distribute its collections across Canada. When asked about the move, the Abecassis family said “We care about supporting the retailers who have distributed our brand on a sustained basis for years. The period we are going through is an ideal time to act in solidarity.”

I got the chance to take some Kuwalla Tee clothing for a test drive, and I found it so easy to integrate their pieces into my existing wardrobe.  The clothing is comfortable, fits beautifully and makes it easy to look awesome while feeling great in your body.  Most of all I love that the brand strives to be giving and to support the communities they interact with.  Supporting small businesses is vital to our economies, as well as to our communities, who create and run those very businesses.   It’s beautiful to see a brand come full circle and support small business as one themselves.  I’m definitely a Kuwalla Tee convert.

Look out for Kuwalla Tee’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection dropping later this month. Keep up with Kuwalla Tee through their website here and their social media below!

Support a great Canadian brand and look and feel great while doing it.
