Becoming BFFs with Birria at Toronto’s Burger N’ Fries Forever

Birria is definitely making its mark on the Toronto food scene as of late. And Toronto’s Burger N’Fries Forever has created their own signature way to serve it.

Hailing from Jalisco, Barria is a Mexican dish traditionally made with lamb  but now more regularly made with beef.  It’s usually served as a consommé or a stew but Birria has gained popularity in tacos.  And those tacos are every where in our town, as the top chefs compete for the best and most delectable recipe.  But one chef has brought the Birria experience to a whole new level, in a fun new way.

Chef Jamil Bhuya, of BFF Burger N’ Fries Forever, has created Toronto’s first ever Birria Burger. Jamil slow-cooks braised shank and a brisket mix to create a rich and creamy taste, which he adds with guajillo and ancho chile peppers to his AAA Angus smashed patty with cheddar cheese – then he finishes it with red onion and cilantro.

Not to be left on the sidelines, Bhuya also thought of the fries.  Birria Queso Fries are exactly what they sound like: delicious.  On the side, or as a meal on its own, Jamil smothers hand cut, double fried fries, in jalapeno cheese sauce with even more birria, red onion and cilantro.

The result is something to behold and even better to taste!

If you’re craving Birria, or just a fantastic burger and fries, then be sure to indulge!  But you only have one week left to enjoy it as the BFF Birria Burger special ends at the end of this April.  So head out now before it’s gone!
