Multi-talented, brave and wonderfully sarcastic, this week’s #WCW is singer-songwriter / actress Jill Hennessy!
Known for her turns on hit television series, including Law & Order and The Good Wife, as well as her acclaimed starring role on Crossing Jordan, many fans of Hennessy may be surprised to know that one of her first creative loves was actually music. The Edmonton, Alberta native is back, six years after her her last album, Ghost In My Head, with the romantic and folk driven follow up, I Do.
In Henessy’s own words, “I Do is primarily a collection of stories about love, relationships and loss – the beauty and the pain and the sacrifice between any two people in love, be it husband/wife, mother/child or child/parent. The title track, I Do, explores the beauty and the struggles of marriage, while many other songs (Marsha G, Aimee, Digging My Own Grave, Cross the River and Heaven) deal with the seismic upheaval and pain of losing that love. The beauty lies in finding faith in something invisible that can sustain us and remaining hopeful that love never fades away…it always endures.” With such an intelligent, heartfelt and beautiful point of view on not only love, but the loss of love, we knew we had to get some romantic insight from Jill Hennessy, and we were pleased to see that not only can see see the deeper side of love, but she can also find lightness, humour and adventure in it as well.
