This week we are crushing on Tareya!

Tareya is a Calgary native who has been active in the music industry since 2012.   She first discovered her talent for singing when she received a karaoke machine as a gift when she was younger. She used the machine to experiment with singing harmonies, and as it turns out, she was pretty good at it!  It was then that Tareya began experimenting with music,  posting videos of herself singing and playing the keyboard on Youtube. But it was one video she posted that changed the game.

In 2010 Tareya posted a Youtube video of herself covering Heart’s “Alone”. A chance viewing of the video by a record label executive lead to Tareya landing her first record deal as one half of the country music duo Autumn Hill.

Recently, Tareya has branched out on her own, finding her new voice through her journey as a solo artist.  Influenced by Canadian artists such as Celine Deion, Chantal Kreviazuk and Shania Twain,  her music blurs the lines between country, pop and R&B.

Tareya will be releasing her solo debut later this year, but today we are pleased to share her brand new single “Summer Wheels” to give you a taste of things to come. Take a listen:

Posture. On our first date, I noticed Doug’s posture from seven stories up and thought, “Ooooo, I like him already.”

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

One of my best dates was cruising around an island in a convertible in the rain.
