Our crush of the week goes to Schyler London!

Hailing from London, Ontario, Schyler describes music as “my breath of fresh air.” Singing has always been a part of her life, from singing around the house when she was young, playing cover songs in her bedroom. Music was her outlet and her therapy.  “Music was the only thing that could ever calm me down.  When things would get tough, I’d go to the park and sing at the top of my lungs, and the pressure release from that, was mind blowing.”

It’s that expression, that emotional outlet, that Schyler wants to provide to her fans. “This world can be a mean place and I all I want to do (through my music) is be able to give someone a little breakthrough of light, when all they can see is the dark.”  It’s good for the soul; that’s the kind of music that Schyler London creates.  Take a listen to “Beautiful” from her EP Love Rebellion. Inspired by the idea of transforming insecurity into acceptance, and favoring individuality over perfection.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

I like a guy who has a good relationship with his parents, especially with his mom.  It means that he knows how to respect women.  The fact that a guy can respect his mom, gives me the confidence that he will do that to me as well.

What is your definition of romance?

It’s more of a feeling than a definition. For me, I want to feel comfortable, and not feel any kind of awkwardness.  It’s a type of chemistry.

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

My ideal first date is dinner and then an activity together, like shoot pool or playing bingo.

I’m still waiting for that best date ever.  I’ll keep you posted J

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Someone who yells at me.  I don’t like any type of yelling.

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

Be completely real.  If you are feeling something, don’t try to avoid it.  Be straight and open with what’s going on inside you.
