Ask your #WCW with Roseanne Supernault

This week we are crushing on the talented Roseanne Supernault!

Roseanne is an actor, writer and producer who hails from the East Prairie Metis Settlement in Alberta, Canada. She’s classically trained in Theatre, and has translated her skills to film and television. Raised by a single father, Roseanne was surrounded by family growing and developed incredibly strong ties to Metis Cree culture. Her immersion in First Nations Culture is a central focus to her life, keeping her grounded even as she delves deeper into the crazy world of acting. You can see Roseanne on the big screen in the post apocalyptic sci-fi production The Northlander, set to make its Ontario premiere at the 2016 ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival on October 23rd, 2016 in Toronto. The Northlander is an Aboriginal action-fantasy film set in the year 2924 that tells the story of hunter Cygnus and his ally Mari (played by Roseanne), who band together to save Cygnus’ tribe from slaughter. Among other roles, Roseanne also stars in the Gemini Award-winning drama series Blackstone about the fictional Blackstone First Nation, suffering disintegration as a result of the corruption of its Chief and Council.

From in front of the audience to behind the scenes, Roseanne recently placed third in the Thunderbird Stories competition for her work They Called her Laura Bannock, which she will be developing into a short film. The contest supports and encourages Indigenous writers to showcase their talent and provides them with the profile to further their aspirations. Portion of the proceeds will go towards Families of Sisters in Spirit, a volunteer, non-profit organization led by families of missing and murdered Aboriginal women.

Along with acting and producing, Roseanne is also a social media influencer, and is presently a brand ambassador for the Aboriginal owned Canadian company Manitobah Mukluks producing some of the world’s finest authentic Aboriginal mukluks moccasins and accessories and Edzerza Gallery, an online Store of form line function and fashion art.

Driven, dedicated and dynamic, Roseanne Supernault is definitely crushworthy to us. Take a read below!

What is your ideal first date?

I am quite adventurous and being an actor makes me in tune with my body. Dancing is such a great way to let loose with someone. I also read this date idea once: you go to the airport together and choose the next flight to ANYWHERE then go explore together. It sounds outlandish, but the idea of it thrills me!

What is your instant deal breaker?

Betrayal. I am very intuitive. Trust is the keeper of the key to my heart.

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

Theatre School was my jam and this Shakespeare dude has a lot to say on romance. Particularly: “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged cupid painted blind.” We can’t always control how, when and with whom we fall in love. And I think true love is selfless and offers us immense lessons. You just have to go for the ride.  That being said, sometimes romance doesn’t have to be so serious! When I approached romance with a little more “Trainwreck” attitude and a little less “The Notebook” attitude, I was suddenly having the time of my life.

What is the first thing you notice about a potential love interest?

Their vibe, their eyes, their mind. Mental stimulation is a huge turn on.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

If romance or love isn’t working for you, come to the realization that the only thing all of your past partners have in common is you. The law of attraction is king. You can’t control other people, only yourself.

Make wellness a priority and you will change not just your love life, but your entire life.
