Ask your #WCW with Pastel Supernova

In Toronto, when you think of burlesque, Pastel Supernova is one of the first names that comes to mind.  She’s an acclaimed performer who’s showed off her steamy moves all over the world, a sought-after choreographer, a model, a teacher, an actress…the list goes on.  And this week, she’s our #womancrushwednesday.

I first learned about Pastel through a photography project called This Woman I know.  The photographer, the amazing Jessica Laforet, had shot Pastel for her photo project shortly before she asked me to pose for her as well.  Looking through the project’s Instagram, I found myself struck by the confidence, passion and beauty that radiated from Pastel’s photos.  Frankly it made me a little intimidated to participate myself, I mean how do you follow THIS?

Later, I attended a class at Brass Vixens, and Pastel just happened to be my teacher.  Only knowing her from photos, I was struck not only by how stunning she is in real life, but how soft-spoken, patient and hilarious she was.  She was an amazing teacher, making me feel welcome and at ease, despite how awkward I was on that pole.  From that moment on, I was a Pastel Supernova superfan, which is why it’s so much fun to feature her today!

Professionally trained in ballet, Pastel effortlessly marries the grace and form of the classical art form with ultra-feminine and hyper-sexy style of burlesque. Her performance skills have put her on the global dance map, giving her the opportunity to choreograph performances and show off her moves on stages all over the world.  After performing in all sorts of exotic locations, Pastel returned home in Toronto, where she founded Love Letters Caberet. With 20 years of dance experience under her belt and a fiery, sensual style that’s all her own, it’s no surprise that LLC has been named “Toronto’s most exciting, edgy and sexually charged dance theatre company.”

For the woman whose mission it is to make everyone feel their most beautiful, confident, and sexy, we deem Pastel Supernova to be incredibly crushworthy!

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

People who hold a quiet confidence are enchanting.  I’ll watch love interests for a long time before making my move… It’s amazing how quickly people make lame decisions. Those who keep their cool are the ones I’ll get closer to.

What is your ideal first date?

I don’t need anything specific but it definitely never hurts to wine me, dine me and share some jokes. If you smell good and look good and know what you want, you’ll peak my curiosity.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

If I catch any kind of controlling vibes, I’m out right away. Anyone who dates me needs to be ok with hanging with a wild child.

What’s the strangest thing someone has done to get your attention?

I live within a wild and adventurous group of people so strange is relative term… An opera singer once gave me a birthday cake as a gift without telling me it was laced with magic mushrooms. I was lit for a week without knowing what was happening. That was ballsy.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Don’t be a dick.
