Ask your #WCW with Laura from Rococode

We’re picking up where we left off on Monday with the other half of Rococode, Laura Smith!

Laura and bandmate Andrew Braun (our MCM this week) have been making beautiful music together since 2011. Between Andrew’s love of musical experimentation and Laura’s knack for hooky pop creations, they’re an unstoppable force on the Canadian music scene. The pair have a new EP out, Young Ones that we are absolutely addicted to.

In Laura’s own words, “Young Ones is about trying to maintain a youthful feeling throughout your adult life. It’s about trying to keep things light in the midst of so much heaviness.” That is Rococode’s entire musical philosophy when it comes to their live and recorded music. Their goal is to find escape in music and make their way out of the darkness, and lead their fans out with them.

Check out their single “Is it real” to see why we can’t get enough of Rococode.

And learn more about Laura below!

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Man babies.

What’s the strangest thing you have ever done to get a love interest’s attention?

When I was in grade 3 this boy would always write me love notes and leave them in my desk, and so obviously I had a huge crush on him, and I would write him cute notes back. When I got wind that he was moving away infinitely I was devastated. The next morning before school I gave him a note with the lyrics to George Michael’s “I’m Never Going To Dance Again” (Careless Whisper) re-written to “I’m never gonna love again….”. He showed the note to everyone and I was mortified, embarrassed and definitely teased. Fortunately it didn’t stop me from putting myself out there in the future!

Describe your love life in one word.

Multidimensional.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Patience, understanding and open honest communication goes a looooong way.

How do you keep the romance alive in your relationship?

We don’t get stuck in a rut because life is pretty unpredictable as is. Because of this we are open to change and trying new things.
