Ask your #WCW with Ivana Santilli

In keeping with our week of Canadian music themed crushes, alow me to present to you  our #womancrushwednesday, none other than Ivana Santilli.  On November 27th the Pop and R&B songstress released her brand new album Late Night Light giving the world another tsaste of her her sensual signature brand of pop-dipped soul.


From her humble childhood beginnings playing the trumpet in her father’s Italian wedding band to her 1995 JUNO Award win as part of the highly praised group Bass Is Base, Santilli is and has long been a staple in the Canadian music industry, and has four solo albums under her belt as well. Her latest, Late Night Light is a collective journey that deftly documents this current period of Santilli’s life and upholds her desire to speak truthfully through her music. Never afraid of a little experimentation, and always open to collaboration, this  album is an exploration of her musical adventurousness with a host of awesome Canadian musical guest stars.
Some of her collaborators include
Stuart Matthewman (Sade), Mike Lindup (Level 42), Nasri Atweh (Magic), Chris Caddell (Colin James), Eon Sinclair (Bedouin Soundclash), Jesse Labovitz (No Warning), and Wade O. With this album Santilli has curated a musical journey that allows listeners to travel through genres as diverse as soul, pop, drum n’ bass, funk, jazz, bossa nova, electronica and R&B. Brown.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

Their vibe , forearms, and their speaking voice.
What is your definition of romance?

A tumbleweed of emotional and physical connection spiced with consistency and adventurousness rolling wild with the wind & germinating more of the same round the towns it breezes by. hey, …you asked.


What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?


One where at the end of the date and an entire day after, I feel real good inside.  And, one where you both look forward to a 2nd (date).


What’s your instant deal breaker?

Mean spiritedness and someone who doesn’t keep their word.
What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

Good romance doesn’t require any advice really. It’s a healthy fun interaction between the 2 people. But to open yourself up to the good stuff, I’ve learnt to ‘Never go below what you consider to be the basics.
