This week we are crushing on Diora Baird!

Diora Baird is a model, actress and producer. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida where she began modeling before she could walk. At the tender age of 10, Diora’s mother enrolled her in theatre to help her work through her extreme shyness. It worked! While performing was challenging at first, Diora soon overcame her fear and fell in love with the beauty of storytelling. At just 17 years old Diora, struck with the acting bug,  made the decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Her big break came with a guest role on the hit comedy The Drew Carey Show and she soon found herself booking more work on television and in film.

Diora is a  is perhaps best known for her big screen roles in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, where her character Bailey endures torture at the hands of the chainsaw-wielding killer. She also starred as Vivian in the smash hit comedy Wedding Crashers with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. It was this role that landed her a coveted spot as a Guess girl (following in the footsteps of Anna Nicole Smith and other famous Guess models), and launched her modeling career. Soon Diora was gracing the pages of FHM, Playboy and Maxim

Diora took a few years off from entertaiment to raise her son. With her return came not only some incredible roles, but an incredible life realization as well.  Diora came out in an interview with The Advocate , and is actually working on a documentary (with The Real L Word’s Nikki Weiss and Jill Sloane Goldstein) that’s also based on the book “Sexual Fluidity” by Lisa Diamond. The documentary follows Baird after her divorce as she begins to embrace her identity as a lesbian and embark on the very personal journey of beginning to date women.

We were fascinated by Diora and her life, and we knew you would be too. Learn about her view on love and romance below!

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

The very first thing I notice are eyes and teeth, simultaneously. There has be to a twinkle in the eye and good teeth are an absolute must. Bad hygiene is a total turn off, so brush those teeth people!

What is your definition of romance?

Romance to me is that feeling you get as you’re about to drop while riding a roller coaster. It’s terrifying and exhilarating all at once. Romance can happen anywhere, I don’t need a big, fancy production. I just need that magic feeling in my gut, which can happen during a candle lit dinner or at a playground surrounded by wild children. I prefer the latter.

What is the best date you’ve ever been on?

Definitely, the best first date I ever went on was with my now girlfriend, Mav. I was in the middle of filming a documentary, so I had cameras following us to dinner. Talk about pressure! Even with the added nerves of being filmed, she made me feel totally comfortable and managed to make me laugh nonstop, even after I managed to dip my entire arm into a bowl of ketchup. Luckily, we were able to continue our date sans cameras at a local bar where we literally talked and laughed until the bar had to finally kick us out and close. It was the kind of date that you never want to end.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Being a fan of kids is vital. Back when I was single and on those silly dating apps, I would notice some girls specifying “no kids” and then they’d try to message me. Um no. I live for my kid and want to be a professional mom of as many kids as possible. Family is the goal for this gal.

Describe your love life in one word

Only one word?! Okay, let me try. Bountiful. My love life is bountiful. I am so grateful for the love of my life, that’s for sure.

How do you keep the romance alive in your relationship?

To be honest, with the right person, it’s effortless. Communication and time away from all the madness is key. Even a day at the beach with my girl keeps us happy. That and a whole lot of laughter.
