This week we find ourselves crushing on Ananya Birla

Ananya is an artist, businesswoman and activist who fights passionately for social change and women’s rights in India.  Ananya launched her first start-up, Svatantra Microfinance, a company that helps women entrepreneurs in the Indian rural areas grow their business and achieve economic independance.  s of April 2016, the company had grown to more than 600 employees across 70 branches in four Indian states, and won the Gold Award for Best Start-Up.  Her second business, CuroCarte, curates rare, highquality, handicrafts designed for the 21stcentury luxe society from across the globe and makes them accessible through an e-commerce  platform.

And did we mention she also makes music?

Ananya’s single Meant to Be( remixed by Afrojak) has racked up nearly 15 million YouTube views.  Her latest single, “Hold On” is on track to become an even bigger hit.

A true inspiration for young women everywhere, Ananya hasn’t wasted any time realizing what she wants in life. Her dream is to create a positive global change in the world one project at a time, and we find that beyond crushworthy.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

For me, it’s about the vibe I get from the person from which I can tell whether we will click or not.  I am also a sucker for someone with a good dressing sense and smile!

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

In a super comfortable setting where we can talk and get to know each other before going on any fancy dinner dates!

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Arrogance doesn’t sit well with me. It’s a huge turn off!

What’s the strangest thing you have ever done to get a love interest’s attention?

This isn’t strange but it’s quite funny! I had written a song about this guy that I with at the time. Unfortunately, by the time the song released we had broken up so it was pretty amusing to receive a call from him saying that so many people had reached out to him to ask if it was about him!

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

I think it’s so important to be yourself in order to find someone who is right for you.  Don’t be afraid to be open up and share your feelings because communication is key to a happy relationship. This sounds cliché but it is so true!
