This week we are crushing on amanie illfated!

amanie [a-mah-nee] : noun
1) to be hated against (Kakwa)
2) wishes (Arabic)
3) peace (Swahili)

amanie illfated is a Toronto based, and Sudanese-born, pop singer who incorporates dynamic lyrics with an eclectic, often ethnic, sound.

Her sophomore album, amanie illfated, (November 2015), is a candid expression of amanie illfated’s paradox-like nature, high fashion styling, metaphoric lyrics, her diary-like motif and her clear-toned, youthful voice.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

As much as I want to say biceps, it’s charisma and intelligence that gets me each time.

What’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

It was the second date. We ubered to The Keg in King West of Toronto, ate a great supper, talked for hours and I felt so relaxed. He then asked me if I wanted to go to Drake’s private party. I thought he was joking until surely enough, we were at a party with Drake. We didn’t wind up together but I always think of him when I listen to Drake.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

The moment my partner shows interest and/or pursues anyone else, it’s game over. You can look, you can talk but as soon as a line is crossed, the end has arrived. It’s such a big turn off that I will not be able to recover from no matter how long or how deep the relationship.

Describe your love life in one word

How do you keep the romance alive in your relationship?

A mutual sense of adventure and spontaneity is crucial to keeping a relationship alive with me. Random trips, creative ventures, big challenges and new things here and there from both ends keeps the rush of the relationship with me.
