You know we love to mix things up here at Addicted, so here we are again with a little bit of a different spin on our #crush series – it’s a double duty #mancrushmonday with TwoShine County!
Formed in 2014 by singer/songwriters and multi- instrumentalists Daron Schofield and Dennis Hann, TwoShine County are Canada’s newest country sensation on a fast ride to stardom. The duo are known for their high energy performances, and that reputation has lead them to prestigious gigs opening for incredible Canadian bands like Blue Rodeo, The Sheepdogs, Dean Brody and Emerson Drive. The band have just released their latest single called “Love this song”, a melodic country rock track that showcases Daron and Dennis’s great vocal harmonies and their fantastic interband chemistry. Consider how great these guys are together on stage, we thought that a combined interview would be the best way to get their thoughts on love, dating and romance out to their fans, so that’s exactly what we did! Take a read below and enjoy this two for one #ManCrushMonday.
What is your ideal first date?
Daron: Something casual, but interesting and creative. An art exhibit, nice dinner, winemaking class. Something where you actually have to communicate. Avoid: movies, concerts and parties. But first dates are supposed to be awkward, so be sure to make a big scene. Haha!
Dennis: Something spontaneous and out of the norm. Not just dinner at a nice restaurant. I’m more of the outgoing type. Skating around a lake with hot chocolate is probably the best.
What’s your instant deal breaker?
Daron: If she doesn’t like cats, it’s probably not going to work out.
Dennis: Someone who is rude or just doesn’t consider others around them is an instant deal breaker for me.
Who do you go to for dating advice?
Daron: Don Cherry and Ron MacLean – they disagree all the time, yet still manage to stick together. It’s usually best to go to a female friend who has no interest in you for advice. You know you’ll get 100% honesty.
Dennis: My older sister Jessica. Any guy with an older sister is definitely lucky, they can help you navigate the ever so tricky female psyche and always have your best interest in mind.
What is your definition of romance?
Daron: Passion, in the form of communication, connection and mystery. It’s the little things. Walks by the lake, star gazing, making a mix tape (do they still have those?) and finding new ways to connect and express yourself. If that fails…there’s always oil wrestling.
Dennis: Romance and true love is the soul’s recognition of its counterpoint in another. That’s right, I just quoted Wedding Crashers. Call me ladies.
Have you ever done something crazy to get a crush’s attention?
Daron: Crazy is such a subjective concept. Jumping up on a table in a restaurant to serenade someone, naked snow angels in – 20 weather… anything for a laugh really.
Dennis: I’m an avid country two-stepper, and one time I was dancing with a girl I really liked, and the guy next to me was trying all these crazy moves with his girl. Naturally my competitive spirit came out, and I tried to match this feather-footed dance-man. He did this one move where you swing the girl around your neck, and I figured why not, looks like a walk in the park. My attempt went like this: I literally threw the girl at warp speed right into the floor. The whole dance floor looked on in horror. Safe to say that was the last time her and I danced. Real smooth right?
