Ask your #MCM with Tod Fennell

This week we are crushing on Tod Fennell!

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Tod caught the acting bug at a young age, taking classes at just 5 years old at the Montreal Children’s theatre. He shot his own feature length film at  age 7 and landing his first leading role at age 12. As a child actor he also appeared in Canadian classics like Lassie and Are You Afraid of the Dark.

As he grew older, Tod was able to successfully transition from child actor status to just plain actor. His credits include Assassin’s Creed, Bethune and Deux Ex: Human Revolution. He’s also worked alongside many actors he’s long admired, including Morgan Freeman, Kirsten Dunst and Mary Louise Parker.

Outside of acting, Tod is extremely accomplished and active in his community. He has a black belt in Shotokan and is a trained dancer. His philanthropic endeavors include work with World Vision Canada, the Canadian Red Cross and the SPCA. A self confessed space nerd, Tod also workds with the Planetary society and the SETI Institute.

Handsome, talented with a side of nerd? It’s crushtime!

What is your ideal first date/what’s the best date you have ever been on?

My ideal first date really depends on the mood I’m in. But I’d have to say that it would have to involve doing something that I’m passionate about and something she’s passionate all in the same evening. My fiancee used to run with the McGill team and has been seriously into running her whole life, so I know how much she loves it when we go for a run together. Night running by the water can be exhilarating. Taking off with some money in your pockets and no destination is pure freedom.

What is your instant deal breaker?

Two things: -When a woman pays close attention to you on a date and is totally present, it’s a huge turn on. So if I get the sense that her eyes glaze over the minute I start talking about something I’m passionate about, it’s game over. Being with someone who has a really highly developed sense of humor is extremely important to me. I could never date someone who isn’t able to find the humor in everything, even the sad things.

What is the strangest thing someone has done to get your attention?

I had just started dating this girl and we had gotten into an argument where we weren’t speaking. We ended up going to the same party and she was avoiding me and talking to everyone else except for me. Really trying to make me jealous, but I was being stubborn and wouldn’t go over and talk to her either. Towards the end of the night, she made out with her best girlfriend and… well, it definitely got my attention. We patched things up pretty quickly after that, lol 🙂

What is your definition of romance?

My definition of romance is when you’re with someone and you can be vulnerable with, honest about your wants, needs, hopes and desires. Not to mention chemistry. There has to be chemistry and sparks flying, there’s no way to describe that feeling, you just know it when you feel it.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

Intelligence, her eyes and her sense of humor. Her eyes have to flash with excitement when she speaks and she has to be able to laugh at everything and herself. I’m very lucky to have a woman like that in my life right now.
