Meet this week’s #mancrushmonday, Ryan Blake, Guitarist with The Road Heavy!
The Road Heavy is a Southern Style Rock & Blues band based right here in Toronto. The band came together back in May of 2014. While recording in a studio, Ryan heard singer Pat James’ vocals on a track being played during a break in a recording session. Intrigued, Ryan asked his engineer buddy who the amazing voice belonged to. He contacted Pat immediately, and the Road Heavy was born. With the addition of female vocalist Jules Cardoso, the band found their niche in a world field with generic hard rock music – melodic riffs, lush guitar tones and soulful male and female vocals all come together to give the Road Heavy their unique sound.
Over the past 2 years the Road Heavy have played countless shows, garnering the attention and respect of music lovers and industry alike. Ryan and company will be performing at Toronto’s North by North East music festival this week, and will be playing select tourdates with Jeff Martin (of The Tea Party fame) in July and August. Jeff will also be producing the Road Heavy’s new EP, that will be recorded at the award-winning, Metalworks Studios this July.
Check out the Road Heavy’s video for their song “Words don’t mean a thing” here:
