Ask your #MCM with Robert Ball

Our #mancrushmonday this week is the sexy and soulful Robert Ball!

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Robert is a rising star in the hottest New York music rooms including Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson’s The Sugar Bar, Café Wha, the Village Underground and Harlem’s Billie’s Black. Formally trained in Toronto at the Claude Watson School for the Arts, Robert went on to study music at Humber College.  No stranger to the musical theatre stage, he’s also appeared in Dreamgirls, Follow the Star (an original musical starring Broadway’s Carol Woods),and The Kiln, an original musical based in Toronto. Robert has travelled the world on the power of his voice as both a solo artist and by lending his amazing tenor and smooth effortless falsetto as a background and/or session singer to other artists. He’s been Europe, Egypt, Dubai, UAE, Mexico the US, Caribbean and Canada as a featured vocalist with Royal Caribbean International. Robert has also sung background for and shared the stage with greats such as Kim Burrell, Mary Mary, Tonex (now BSlade), Saukrates, Divine Brown, CeCe Winans, Ashford & Simpson, and Gordon Chambers just to name a few.

Not one to be relegated only to the music industry, Robert’s background and education have also lead him to work in charitable and not for profit roles as a vocal instructor, Artist Development Facilitator, Artistic Director to Community Arts Program Director.

Well rounded, talented AND handsome? I’d say Robert Ball definitely earns the title of crushworthy. Let’s get some insight into his romantic mind, shall we?

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

The first thing I notice about a person is their eyes. As the saying goes, “the eyes are the window to the soul.” A smile attached to a warm smile is something else I notice right away.

What is your definition of romance?

My definition of romance is simple, caring gestures that show love and affection. Things like breakfast in bed, remembering little things about your significant other, what they like, dislike and what lights them up. Quiet candlelit dinners and secluded beach vacations are very romantic as well 🙂

What’s your instant deal breaker?

An instant deal breaker for me is definitely someone who lacks compassion. It says a lot about someone’s character when they are insensitive towards others. Bad grooming and poor hygiene are also deal breakers for me.

What’s the strangest thing someone has done to get your attention?

Aside for some Facebook stalking, I haven’t had too many strange things happen to me. Being in the music industry, I’ve gotten the typical “I’m a so-and-so and I want to work with you” as a way to get my contact info for a date.

What’s the strangest thing you have ever done to get a love interest’s attention?

Many years ago, I shaved my side burns in a particular style to get my love interest’s attention, but it backfired since I ended up cutting my face and was scarred for a couple weeks. It was  beyond embarrassing but makes for a great answer to this question 🙂
