Ask your #MCM with Kyle Meagher

This week we’re crushing on Kyle Meagher!

Kyle is one of those young people that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished literally nothing, because he’s already done so much with his young life.  At only 16 years old, his resume is more impressive than people multiple times his age.  He’s Canadian actor and musician, and you probably recognize his adorable self from this work on the Netflix series, Anne with an E, a heartwarming reboot of Canadiana classic Anne of Green Gables.  The show won the prestigious Canadian Screen Award for Best Drama Series in 2018.

Along with his role on Anne, Kyle has lent his acting skills to  Odd Squad, Murdoch Mysteries, and 7 Hills, where he was first asked to contribute an original song to the soundtrack of the show. Yup, in case you forgot, this kid can also sing!  His debut single, Nowhere, is out now. Take a listen below:

Kyle may be young but he’s a heartthrob in the making, and you know the younger set is already crushing on him.  They swoon while we smile at his earnest and mature take on love and romance.  Get to crushing below!

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

I typically notice their personality first. Like everyone, I might find someone attractive when I first see them, but they wouldn’t become a potential love interest until I get to know their personality. I love a person with intelligence and a passion for things that they love and believe in. It can be different from what I like, as long as they are passionate about something. A sense of humour and a desire to have a good time is also really important.

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

My ideal first date completely depends on the person I am on a date with. Ideally, it would need to be something that the other person loves. The first date is all about getting to know someone, so if you get to see them talking about or doing something they love, then you really get a feel for who they are.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Negativity. I’m a pretty positive person and I like to surround myself with those who are also positive. Belittling or making fun of people happens all too often, and I can’t stand someone who picks the faults of others. Some people try to find the wrong in everything. I prefer to find the positives in things, even when times are bad. It makes life way more fun, so it would be important to me that someone I date would be similar.

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

The best romantic advice I ever got is to communicate. Tell the person exactly how you feel – it is the best thing you can do. Sometimes in the past, I didn’t tell the other person how I felt because I expected them to just know or I was too shy to really talk about my feelings, so my relationships fizzled out. Someone explained to me that if you don’t say it and show it, people just won’t know. If you do say it, it brings you closer together and opens another level of a relationship where you feel good about each other and know where you stand. Always tell someone how great you think they are, remind them that you love them, and if something’s bothering you, don’t leave it up to them to figure it out.

What’s the strangest thing someone has done to get your attention?

I’ve run into many people who constantly “play games” and it just completely baffles me. It seems so weird to me that someone who’s actually interested in me, would act completely opposite and be distant and cold. It’s happened more than once before, so it boggles my mind. I really prefer a girl who gets my attention by being nice, open and honest. I’m just not good at playing games.
