To celebrate the first long weekend of summer, we thought we’d feature a heartthrob who’s always known how to turn up the heat – Karl Wolf!

Known for his incredibly successful single “Africa”, an inventive remake of Toto hit, Karl Wolf is anything but a one hit wonder. This musical jack of all trades has been impressing fans and industry alike for years on a global scale as a producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and singer. But this man’s talents aren’t exclusive to the music business – he’s also a successful entrepreneur and businessman and was voted one of the World’s Most Powerful & Influential Arabs by ArabianBusiness.com’s Power 100 (2009).

This international success story had an international start to life. H ewas born as Carl Abou Samah in Beirut, Lebanon. At the early age of three, he moved to Dubai, UAE with his family to flee the civil war in Lebanon. At sixteen Karl moved to Montreal, Canada for university, studying film before getting his start in the music industry. He began his career “behind the scenes,” writing and co-producing tunes with some of Quebec’s biggest names in pop music. He sang backup for the Hip hop band Dubmatique, and won an ADISQ award for “Best Mix and Sound of the Year”  for his work on Gabrielle Destroismaisons 2001 hit album. Wolf’s work with Gabrielle brought him to the attention of Antoine Sicotte, of the top-selling Canadian pop band Sky, where he was recruited as a singer-songwriter and became Sky’s new lead singer in 2002. He also co-wrote and co-produced the third Sky album, Picture Perfect before branching out as a solo artist. Karl has recorded and released 6 solo albums; Stereotype, Finally Free, Nightlife, Bite the Bullet and Face Behind The Face and most recently Wow in 2015. His albums were Top 5 in Japan, Lebanon, Egypt, Czech Republic and Dubai. In 2008, he joined Akon and Ludacris as part of a star-studded lineup that launched MTV Arabia, and the video for “Africa” was the first ever to be broadcast on the new station. He received an MTV Europe Music Award for MTV Arabia Best New Act, where he performed in front of Sir Paul McCartney and Beyoncé.

An impresive resume and more than his fair share of charm and wit, we figured Karl definitely qualified as crushworthy!
What is your definition of romance?

Being sweet to others, thoughtful and attentive to each other’s needs and wants.
What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

My ideal first date would have to be a summer day walking, grabbing an ice cream and just vibing.. We sit somewhere get a couple of summery beverages and just get to know each other and laugh! Best date has to go to my high school sweetheart. Day / night on the beach in Dubai. Kissed her while the sun was setting.. it was such a beautiful moment, I can’t forget it.

What’s the strangest thing you have ever done to get a love interest’s attention?

Pretended to be in her path, knowing she would walk through that path, and getting my acapella group at the time to act like we were just practicing our singing as she walked in on us.

What’s the strangest thing someone has done to get your attention?

Shouted outside my doorstep ‎of my home at 4 o’clock in the morning, waking up neighbours and everything. I had to call the cops. They dragged her away.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Always allow the other person to feel free and as much themselves as possible early in the relationship, without judging. Because ultimately, in time, their true colors come out anyways and you’re rather know who you’re with.

How do you keep the romance alive in your relationship?

I pay attention to things she mentions that she likes at other times and then I surprise her with those things at unexpected times. This keeps her feeling appreciated for her true self and inturn keeps the love flowing 😉
