Ask your #MCM with Joel Cross

This week we’re crushing on Joel Cross.

Joel Cross is a Grammy Nominated Singer-Songwriter guitarist and producer.  Hailing from Texas, Joel grew up in a large and musical family, spending his childhood singing gospel songs with his 7 brothers and sisters.  He first picked up the guitar at the tender age of 12, and began to craft his own sound and style, with influences like Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Bill Withers helping him along the way.  It was an impromptu Taylor Swift cover, captured on video, that first threw him in the public eye.  That cover of “Shake it Off” now has over 700,000 views and turned Joel into a literal overnight sensation.  He appeared on Ellen DeGeneres, America’s Got Talent, Capitol Records, Time, and MTV. Four-time Grammy award winning artist, India Arie, was also intrigued by Joel when she heard one of his original songs, “Candlelight,” and invited him to collaborate with her on her upcoming album.

Along with that incredible collaboration, Joel has an album of his own on the way.  Check out a new tune he wanted to share here:

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

Big, beautiful, bright eyes!

What is your definition of romance?

Connecting head to heart. Showing someone you care by celebrating the simple everyday things they value.

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

It was a week long date with a girl I met in the Caribbean. We went sailing, and scootered around the small island enjoying intimate beaches, fresh mangos and jerk chicken. I married that woman.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Love yourself first. Quit chasing after people. Life will bring you everything and person you need.
