Ask your #MCM with Gerrard Lobo

This week we’re crushing on Gerrard Lobo!

You may recognize this handsome fellow from such awesome shows as Orange is the New Black, Master of None and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.  A graduate of Villanova University, Gerrard has a background in modeling (obviously), theatre and has even dabbled in finance (everyone needs a backup plan!).  He’s racked up more IMDB credits since what we’ve listed above, and we can’t see what this actor has in store for the future.  He’s breaking barriers in Hollywood by reminding the world that people from all over the world are beautiful, and belong on our television screens.  For that, we find him incredibly crushworthy! Get to crushing with us below!

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

What they look like when they are genuinely happy or angry about something.  Lots of people are attractive.  But I think when you see someone being genuine, it’s easier to determine whether you want to pursue something further.

What is your definition of romance?

I think romance is more a connection that you work at over time to keep alive.  I don’t like the idea of wooing or winning someone.  For me, the initial spark is when different things combine to make you lose track of time.  The way someone looks when they just roll out of bed in the morning and you want to go grab coffee- their mannerisms, their laugh, what makes them upset, their thoughts on something, the physicality between you, their quirks- this is all apparent from the moment you wake up to the moment you’re walking out the door, and then sitting down or walking with your drink.  It’s the stuff that makes you want to keep learning more about the person.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

People who display a lack of empathy.

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

[The best piece of advice I’ve receied was] from my cousin.  Someone gave him this piece of advice and he said it finally clicked with him— If you’re in a heated argument with a loved one— You can be 100% right, your argument can be logically sound, it can make perfect sense… it doesn’t matter.  It’s about how you make someone feel.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

No, literally means no.  It’s not always a slight to your personhood.  It’s actually more attractive if you accept and respect that.
