Happy #mancrushmonday! Today we’re meeting one half of one of my favorite bands, Etienne Barry from Les Deuxluxes!
I’ve been watching Les Deuxluxes since I first discovered them at the Emerging Music Festival in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. They were pure fire, and part of it was the amazing chemistry between Etienne and lead singer/guitarist Anna Frances Meyer. Together they are not only two people who can make an epic amount of noise together, but make beautiful music together literally and figuratively. And the fact that Etienne can play the drums, guitar and sing all at the same time? Pretty badass if you ask me.
With 2 albums under the belts of their impossibly stylish vintage outfits and the ability to pack venue after venue for their blistering live performances, Les Deuxluxes are on an incredible upward trajectory. Their bluesy rock stylings comes with a serious helping of sexy, making their tunes very addictive. Take a listen to the title track from their latest album Springtime Devil below:
We’ll be checking in with Anna on Wednesday so for now, join us in crushing on the male half of this music power couple below!
What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?
Authenticity, it’s real hard to fake something you’re not, so why even try!
What’s the best date you’ve ever been on?
I surprised her with a trip to Toronto to see Mavis Staples, we both cried ‘cause she was just amazing, then we hopped on the bus back to Montreal, but not before getting some take-out dumplings to eat on the bus. The dumplings were delicious but for some reason, also really stinky and we pretty much pissed off the whole lower deck of the megabus!
What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?
Don’t rush it!
What’s the strangest thing you have ever done to get a love interest’s attention?
Showed her John Waters’ Pink Flamingos hoping the magic would operate (it worked).
