Talented, dapper and heartbreakingly handsome – three ways to describe Luke Nicholson. The singer/songwriter claims to fame include a Genie nomination, the hit single packed album Mad Love and sharing his impossibly good looking genes with Royal Wood (the pair are brothers). And now he’s back, not only with a new album to show off, but also a little bit of insight into what makes him tick – romantically speaking. That’s right, Luke Nicholson is this week’s #mancrushmonday!
On August 12th, Nicholson will be taking the stage at The Rivoli right here in downtown Toronto to celebrate the release of his latest effort Frantic City. The new record shows off his skill at making heartfelt and romantic music (a talent he shares with his brother), with a power pop element that is all his own. Did we mention he also knows how to rock a suit like nobody’s business? Between that irresistible sense of style, a voice as sweet as pie and a swagger that can’t be beat, Luke has definitely earned his #MCM title.
What is your definition of romance?
Doing the unexpected for someone for no reason except to show them you care. But also the little things, a kiss, a compliment, an open door, these things go a long way.
Have you ever done something crazy to get a crush’s attention?
Left my scarf at a girl’s apartment once to have an excuse to see her again…. married her 5 years later!
Who do you go to for dating advice?
My father is go to for anything and everything. For a big man he is quite sensitive and intuitive towards the opposite sex!
How do you feel about public displays of affection?
I’m ok with it to a point. Little hug or peck never hurt anyone. I grab a quick squeeze whenever I can. But at some point ‘ get a room’ already.
Describe the best date you’ve ever been on
On my first date with my wife I surprised her by picking her up from the airport. Then I took her to a little patio in the west end, very private setting. We were the only ones there, and we talked forever. I fell in love that night.
First night out in New York City – amazing dinner in the West Village, followed by drinks in a smoky SoHo bar, ended the night with pizza on Canal street…. stumbled back to our hotel where we attempted to get on the elevator which turned out to be a utility closet…. Would love to see the hotel security footage of that night!
