Ardene’s helps give the gift of fashion to hospitalized teens this holiday season

Slippers are one of those ubiquitous holiday gifts that most of us have probably received at one point or another.  I personally adore slippers.  I hate socks, but I also hate when my feet get cold, so slippers are my favorite home footwear around this time of year.  No, I’m not low-key angling for slippers for Christmas but if you do feel like buying me, or someone else in your life, a new pair for under the tree, you really should get them from Ardene.  Why?  Because you’ll be buying a gift that gives back too.

Ardene, the accessible fashion and accessories retailer, has a heart of gold in the form of their namesake foundation.  The Ardene Foundation has a mission to use the power behind the brand to make the world a better place for the young people that love their stores so much.  This year, the foundation is focusing its efforts on helping the Starlight Foundation, the organization that works tirelessly to bright laughter and light into the lives of children facing serious illness, and their families.  And they’re using slippers to do it.

This holiday season Ardene launched a new line of slippers to benefit Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada’s Ward + Robes program.  The program’s goal is to design and produce fashion forward hospital gowns for hospitalized young people.  Going to the hospital is never fun, even less so in one of those drab, backless green or blue numbers that they make you wear.  By creating the option to choose a hospital gown with some style, that suits a young person’s own personal style, these kids can feel empowered, and more like themselves at a time when they could definitely use some of those good vibes.

“Starlight’s mandate to empower young adults through the Ward + Robes program is aligned with our belief that fashion should be celebrated with fearless enthusiasm,” says Mark Dervishian, Ardene’s COO. “Through the Ardene Foundation, our company’s dedicated charity organization, we hope to bring the joy of self-expression to teens in need. We’ve also been longtime supporters of Starlight, previously sponsoring initiatives across the country, which makes this partnership that much more special.”

From now until December 31st, a percentage of proceeds from the sales of the Ardene’s Foundation slippers will support the incredible and important work of the Starlight Foundation, including the Ward+Robes Program.  The Foundation has pledged to raise $350,000 for Starlight, through slipper sales and customer donations.  So you should definitely be going to Ardene to finish up that holiday shopping, and so some good while you’re at it.
