Addicted to Love? Music is the language of love

Feelings, especially those of the sensual and/or romantic varieties, can be expressed in many ways. A glance. A word. A touch. A song. The last may be one of my favorites, which should come as no surprise to you, my lovely readers. They say music is the universal language, but to me, it can also be the language of love.

To say music can be expressive is an understatement. Music can not only encompass feelings, but in can inspired and ignite them. From the beginning of time, when humans first discovered how to make sounds to show how they feel, one of the most prominent subjects expounded upon was, of course, love. So for this edition of Addicted to love, I thought I’d let the tunes do the talking. After all, music is the language of love.

Disclosure and Lorde – Magnets

Considering Lorde is barely an adult, it’s almost wrong that she was able to create a song that’s so very sexy. As we know, some wrongs do make a right, and that’s the case with this tune, both in its existence and its subject matter. It perfectly expresses that pull, that undeniable attraction that shouldn’t be indulged, but that feels oh so good when it is. We’ve all felt it. We’ve all wanted it. And we’ve all done it.  These guys just wrote a song about it.

Miike Snow – Genghis Khan

This song perfectly captures my contradictory Scorpio nature. While I’m not in any rush to be tied down, and I’m more than happy to have my fun with no strings attached, I can’t help my jealous nature. It’s hypocritical, it’s insane, but in the words of Miike Snow, “I’m selfish, I’m obscene.” Ah, the perils of casual dating.

Nick Jonas and Tove Lo – Close

Speaking of contradictions, while the above song is how I generally operate, this song is what I would LOVE to actually have. Modern dating is a misery, and it’s largely because we’re all so afraid to make that commitment, even when we find that undeniable connection. To just admit for once, that we actually want to be close to someone, to want them and all of them, is the ultimate in romantic in my book.

So there you have it. Three of my favorite sexy pop songs where they really got it right in the feelings department.
