For those of you that don’t know, I went blonde this summer, and one of the very first things I was told was to go out and get some great hair products.
Lucky for me, I contacted the good people at Joico, and they sent me the entire Blonde Life line to test, and report back on.
It’s now been 90 days of testing and I have to tell you, these products have kept my hair looking its best.
I have to admit right from the start, I’ve never put that much effort into haircare. I’ve always put most of my focus on styling my hair since it was never coloured and was usually fairly short, and thus I got it cut often. But with blonde hair, I’ve learned that it’s a whole ‘nother ballgame. Well actually, it’s no game at all.
Apparently, your hair becomes totally different after it’s been bleached and toned and styled and blow-dried. What I’ve learned along the way is that you need to use great products to keep your hair from looking like it’s crossed over to the other side. Spooky, I know.
So let’s start with the basics.
Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo & conditioner
Both of these products not only work seamlessly with each other, they left my hair feeling strong and shiny, while the conditioner actually brought my hair back to life, and repeatedly gave it its moisture back.
The fragrance of these products was really subtle. It’s like someone knew that a man would be testing it, and didn’t turn it into a botanical garden, so thank you to whoever is responsible for that!
As we move on through the line we get to the Brightening Veil and the Brightening Mask.
Honestly, as someone who is just learning about all this, at first I was confused about what the difference was between these products, but to keep it simple, the veil is just that, a shield protecting your colour treated hair from the sun, the hair dryers and all the other factors that apparently, as I’ve learned, affect your hair colour and quality.
In my mind the mask was an added bonus to the conditioner, it hydrated and seemed to add a little extra shine to the hair.
So, what have we learned about becoming a blonde? Well, it’s a bit more effort, that’s for sure! But if you are going to make the effort, do it right, and make sure to use the correct products to keep your hair looking healthy and strong. That way, when you walk down the street people can think, “How the heck does his hair look so amazing?” Blonde Life, that’s how.
