This week we are inspired by Justin Brothers, one of the co-creators behind Envision Festival!
I had the chance to attend Envision this year and it was one of the most eye opening experience I have ever been a part of (read about it here). Bringing together music, yoga, environmental awareness and an overall philosophy of compassion and kindness, Envision was a great gateway into the conscious community for me. I enjoyed every moment there, and I can’t wait to go back. Justin, one of the great minds behind Envision, took the time to chat with Addicted about what inspires him to do what he does. Justin works on event production, marketing and eco-merchandising for Envision. He is also the co-founder of Colorado based event management group PastForward. With a passion for creating memorable experiences and eco-conscious products, Justin is a true inspiration.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I dabbled in the simple childhood dreams of becoming a zoo keeper or a scientist.. which later turned into architecture after watching my parents build their own house when I was in middle school. I really realized I didnt fit into the standard paradigms of what ways things were supposed be. I come from a family of doctors, an attorney and a CPA.. all standard, and nothing for me. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up.. even after graduating from college in Colorado.
How did you get involved with the work you currently do?
A strong attraction to celebration, culture, positive initiatives and the tropical lifestyle lead me to a fanatical dream of a multi-day event in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. I had been exposed to the festival culture through volunteering and back-end work with large production companies, and thought that was something I could do.. and would enjoy.
What is your WHY?
Because the opportunity to learn, forge new paths and the energetic payoff are extremely fulfilling and gives me the sense of contribution and the opportunity to take my ideals into my own hands.
How do you do manage to do it all?
Um.. that’s a great question. Some days I feel like I have the world in my hands and some days I feel like I’m just holding on for dear life. Learning to enjoy the process and not just the final product.
If you had one wish to help make the world a better place, what would it be?
A food revolution. This is extremely complex and there are many many levels, but it would start to mend many issues that exist in the world.
Who (person or organization) inspires you?
Friends of mine that have either gone through tragedy or were dealt, what most of us would see as a band hand from birth, and are some of the most positive people I know. They are shining examples of the way to live life with a smile and intention. If anyone has a reason to see life as difficult, it would be them, and they are some of the most positive people I know.
If you could pick one charitable organization to ask our readers to donate to or volunteer with, which would it be?
