Addicted Holiday Cocktail Series – Amarula French Toast

If you were one of the brave people who ventured out today to cash in on the Boxing Day deals, chances are you came home from your retail adventures feeling pretty tired and pretty hungry. After replenishing your strength with some Christmas dinner leftovers, why not treat yourself to a sweet after dinner cocktail? My suggestion? A sweet and tasty Amarula French Toast.

The mention of french toast may send your thoughts flying back to your pretty shopping breakfast, which would have made you a total amateur. A carb heavy and time consuming to make breakfast BEFORE you head out for a marathon day of shopping, and on BOXING DAY no less? Bad move. That’s why you need to satisfy not only your sweet tooth, but your craving for a yummy breakfast in a light and rewarding cocktail.  Light yet creamy, and nutty with a citrus, this liqueur derived from the Marula fruit is the perfect base for this breakfast for desert cocktail.

Recipe

1.5 ounces Amarula Crema

0.5 ounce rum (we used Appleton Estates Rum)

0.5 ounces milk (almond, soy, coconut or any other milk alternative would also work)

ground cinnamon and/or cinnamon stick for garnish

As pictured here, the Amarula French toast also makes for a great shot for your holiday parties, or if your boxing day experience was intense enough to require shots afterwards. Enjoy!
