Addicted Chats with Felix from the Cat Empire

In place of our usual #mancrushmonday interview, I thought I’d share an interview I had with an incredibly crushworthy man from the music industry. That man is Felix Riebl, singer and songwriter for The Cat Empire.

It’s not often that I find myself smitten in the middle of an interview, but that’s what happened when I met Felix. Soft spoken, with the sweetest accent and the kindest eyes, Felix is downright dreamy. And that was below I saw him on stage. The fact that he’s one of the frontmen of the Cat Empire, one of the best live bands in the world, sealed the deal. and watching him perform in all his musical glory solidified my budding crush.

If you haven’t heard of, or seen, the Cat Empire, you’ve either got terrible musical taste or have been living under a rock. Active for over a decade, the Cat Empire have made a name for themselves as an eclectic band with a crowd pleasing sound, and an incredible live show. Their debut self titled album reached double platinum in their native Australia, and every record since then has been more exciting than its predecessor. Their latest album,  Rising With The Sun debuted Top 20 in 16 countries around the world, and at #1 on the Australian ARIA Album Charts. The single, “Wolves” is catchy as all hell, and shows the band’s uncanny ability to evolve with every album, while still staying true to that undefinable sound that has endeared them to the world. As mentioned, their live show is not to be missed; the band did the festival circuit as well as touring to support Rising with the Sun, playing Osheaga among many other dates.

I got the chance to sit down with Felix “Dreamboat” Riebl before their Toronto show at the Danforth Music Hall this summer. Check out our chat below and photos from their incredible live set, and prepare to swoon over my latest #mancrush with me.  Enjoy!
