A special #WCW with Naomi Sniekus

Guys, I want you to meet my new girl crush, Naomi Sniekus.

I actually hate terms like girl crush, but I can see why they exist. There’s a feeling when you meet a woman who is so awesome, that you’re giddy with just knowing her. It’s not just friendship, and it’s not romantic, it’s something else. So girl crush just fits.

I have never physically met Naomi Sniekus. Like many Canadians, her voice and face are already familiar to me, from the countless television appearances she’s made. From commercials to standup, film and television, Naomi’s theatrical resume is nothing short of impressive. But it’s what she’s doing these days that’s making me warm and fuzzy inside. In a professional admiration sort of way, that is.

Earlier this year, Naomi launched Firecracker Department. This brand new podcast features the brightest minds and most charismatic women in entertainment. As you can imagine, it’s perfection.

Naomi’s guests represent the full spectrum of the entertainment industry. She’s interviewed actresses, writers, directors and behind-the-scenes executive power players, giving a diverse look into some of the greatest minds in the business. Naomi teases, tempts and simply talks the stories and laughs out of these women. Her charm and the instant chemistry she creates with her subjects make Firecracker Department irresistibly entertaining.

Some of Naomi’s guests have and will include: Jayne Eastwood, Annie Murphy, Bette Macdonald, Debra McGrath, Diane Flacks, Grace Kung, Jennifer Robertson, Jessie Gabe, Mackenzie Donaldson, Tommie Amber Pirie and Zoie Palmer

Each interview is accompanied  with a glass of wine and a view of the Hollywood Hills. Recorded out of Naomi’s home, the conversations are informal, real and often intensely-personal. It’s funny, frank talk about success, life in the public eye, the victories, embarrassments and vagaries of fame.

“I am so inspired by my talks with these firecracker women!,” says an exuberant Naomi, “their stories, their passion, their words of advice – it’s electric. At the end of each recording I am so charged I could write a book, shoot a movie or just run out and hug the closest woman and yell “WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!! I know people will not only be inspired but learn something about the women in our industry.”

I got the chance to chat with Naomi about work and life. She was a joy to chat with, and left me feeling like we had just killed a bottle of red in her Hollywood Hills home. I felt so inspired and in awe, and so excited to meet such a powerhouse woman.

I was in full girlcrush mode.

Take a listen below and get to crushing along with me.
