2020 is filled with great UK poker tournaments, North American events, Asian competitions, and many other options. There are so many great tournament calendars and I referred to a great website for the most up-to-date schedule – it’s got a lot of excellent events on it!
I trawled through it and picked out three poker tournaments that I think you have to attend.
They cover three continents and each one offers something special, making them perfect for a poker player who likes a little variety to both their game and their life.
World Poker Tour UK
The World Poker Tour is one of the planet’s premier gambling events and the UK leg is one of the UK’s finest poker tournaments.
Games are one of the best things about the WPT UK – not only because it has all the ones you want, but also because you don’t have to pay any tax on your winnings.
When is it happening? Oct 2-6
Where is it happening? Nottingham, England
If you’re thinking about attending the WPT UK, you might want to consider some of the other things you can check out while you’re in Nottingham.
My tip is to try the Haunted Museum – it’s frightfully good!
Asian Poker Tour
Asia has become one of the key places to play card games – Macau is now the home of the world’s high rollers – so it’s no surprise that the APT (Asian Poker Tour) is one of the poker tournaments you need to check out.
The APT is held in many different countries and across a number of dates, but I’m recommending you try the autumn edition in Taiwan.
When is it happening? Oct 7-18
Where is it happening? Tapei, Taiwan
Why Taiwan? It’s simple – it has the fastest internet in the world.
This means that you can practice your poker skills by playing online games, safe in the knowledge that you won’t get any lag.
Fun In The Sun Poker Open
The holiday season is all about playing games and this makes Fun In The Sun Poker Open the perfect tournament for ending 2020 – it starts on Boxing Day and is over before New Years’s Eve.
Fun In The Sun Poker Open is held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Casino, one of the most prestigious betting venues in the U.S. and a venue that you simply must tick off your gambling bucket list.
When is it happening? 26-30 Dec
Where is it happening? Hollywood, USA
There are many great things you can do to prepare yourself for a gambling trip to Hollywood – such as testing out some new poker strategies to see if you can develop your game.
However, my advice is that you brush up on your culture because there are some excellent exhibitions happening in LA in December 2020.

You might not be able to check out all of these poker tournaments – indeed, you’d be hard-pressed to make the APT after the UPT UK!
But I really recommend you give as many of them a go a possible – it’s a chance to experience different gambling cultures and see how poker goes down in three very different countries.
