There is a deep love here at Addicted for whisky and for original accessories. So when we heard about the partnership between Glenmorangie and Finlay & Co I had to find out more, which is just what I did.
So bags in tow, I hopped on a plane to New York city to meet with both companies so I could be there first hand for the big reveal, and that it was.
Over the evening with these two amazing brands I learned all about this latest partnership of which the end result was fantastic and very original sunglasses made out of the wood from the Glenmorangie casks, and I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty darn cool.
There is soul in wood: spirit, character – and the mysterious beauty of something that grows according to its own rules. To celebrate the wooden casks which help create Glenmorangie’s unnecessarily well-made whisky, Glenmorangie has formed a pioneering collaboration with Finlay & Co., manufacturers of unique wooden-framed sunglasses.
In a first for the Scotch whisky industry, the British eyewear company will work with oak wood from casks only ever used twice to age Glenmorangie Original for ten years. The bespoke sunglasses fashioned from these casks, honour Glenmorangie Original’s perfect balance and alluring complexity.
Designed and handcrafted in Britain, from Glenmorangie’s own American white oak casks, the sunglasses launched in March. Each pair is designed to display its unique grain and natural finish, then numbered and will have the option to be personally engraved for each customer.
The frames represent a coming-together of two brands renowned for their commitment to craftsmanship: While Finlay & Co. takes 16 steps to hand-craft each pair of glasses, Glenmorangie is renowned for its 16 Men of Tain, the legendary Highland whisky-makers who have carried Glenmorangie’s secrets down the generations.
For those of you that don’t know, Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky originates in the Scottish Highlands where, at the Glenmorangie Distillery, it is distilled in the tallest malt whisky stills in Scotland, expertly matured in the finest oak casks, and perfected by the 16 Men of Tain. The Distillery was founded in 1843 and is renowned as a pioneer in the whisky industry, uniting tradition with innovation.
Pictured above I look out onto New York city while sipping back on a glass of truly one of my favorite scotch offerings while rocking what now is my most unique pairs of sunglasses that I have lovingly added to my collection.
Amazing scotch whisky, original and innovative eyewear and NYC, needless to say, I had the time of my life.
