Sagemon dance

Over 1,000 people from the city of Yanagawa city, in Kyshuu Japan came together to put together the ‘Sagemon dance.’ A new video that is making it’s way around online due to the beautiful locations and the cute and somewhat zany young girls that lead us through it.

Featuring the ‘sagemon’ ornament famous in the city, the video shows many famous parades and events held within the city.

The video clip is being released at the same timing of the Gemon festival. This year is looking to be particularly festive as Sumo Wrestler ‘Kotoshogiku,’ originally from the city, took out the prestigious ‘hatsubasho’ sumo tournament last month.

In the Germon festival, Yanagawa’s local ornament is the ‘Sagemon.’ The ornaments are seen as a good luck charm for girls on their 1st birthday for ‘health’ and ‘happiness’. Throughout mid February to April, the Gemon festival has the city decorated with these ornaments.

Beautiful, isn’t it?
