When it comes to red wine, my search is never-ending. Being that I’ve always been drawn to red wine over white (in most cases not all), I’m always keeping an eye open for the wines that really stand out.
Whether due to their quilty, price point, or a combination of both, I only ever feature wines that I really love.
That being said, when I find a great red wine that I love, and it retails for under 20$ aka 19.95 at the LCBO, well I just have to take a moment and tell you all about it.
Let me introduce you to Cono Sur Single Vinyard Pinot Noir 2015.
For those of you that have not yet tried the Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2015, it has a vibrant ruby-red colour, and is filled with notes of berries, sour cherry, and lingers with a subtle hint of tobacco on the nose.
On the palate, as it glides down you feel the juicy fullness, with a great acidity and perfect balance of flavours, leaving you wanting another sip.
It’s smooth, its full without being overly strong, and is just a very approachable and easy to drink pinot noir.
Grown in a cool climate (yes that’s possible in Chile) and very close to the coast, the grapes experience cool nights, foggy mornings, and gentle days until the grapes are hand-picked in April for this 2015 vintage.
Poultry (aka Thanksgiving) as well as meats and aged cheese, really this is a great dinner or pre-dinner wine.
The fine print:
Grape: Pinot Noir
Appellation: Valle de San Antonio
Available at: The LCBO for $19.95 CAD (check listing for other areas)
So if you’re looking to add something new to your collection that isn’t just the same old same and doesn’t break the bank, you should try a glass of Cono Sur Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015.
